Wallaroo Sunset

Sunset at WallarooClick for 317kb image

You really do need to click on the thumbnail or link provided to see the sunset at its best.

This snapshot was taken at Wallaroo in South Australia during my stay over the weekend. I have to admit I was surprised that the image did not have more camera shake because I did not use a tripod, although leaning against a tree was very helpful for taking photos when so much of the daylight had gone.

Gawler Ranges Trip, South Australia "part thirteen"

Click for 666kb image

If you have been following this Gawler Ranges trip you will then realise that this is our second camp for the two nights that this little traveling party made.

After a long day on the road, an area was spotted to make camp not all that far off the main Kingoonya to Glendambo road. By the time we had our tents up and a fire going to cook our meal the night air was quickly cooling down.

The landscape is truly beautiful in this area as the sun goes down with warm light streaking across the flat plains.

The next morning as the sky awakens I can hear birds going about their business and cheering with chatter and song; a celebration of a new day for all living things.

Yes a new day where this traveling party must break camp and move on and head down the road towards home but first there is more to see before this journey is completed. I do hope you come back to see what this day had on offer.

Gawler Ranges Trip, South Australia "part seven"

Click for 611kb image

In the creek near the Siam Station homestead there are hops flowering. These are not native to Australia and only flower after good rains, which the area did have. As much as these hops are not native to my country they can put on a magical show in the Flinders Ranges although this does not happen very often due to lack of rain.

Of the two nights on this trip that my brother and his wife and Malcolm and I bush camped, this was our first night. Everybody instinctively found a job to do and it wasn't long before we had our tents up, chairs out and a fire going to cook our evening meal. You can see Malcolm surveying all our handy work or was that the cask of red wine he was looking for! wink

Our bellies were fed and watered by the time the sun was setting on our first night and it was hands on deck to grab a few snapshots as the sun was disappearing down beyond the horizon.

If you didn't get an update of SnapShots in your RSS Reader yesterday there was a post. I did some extra pinging but to no avail as my copy did not turn up in my own RSS Reader. This is why it is worth subscribing to your own feed if you have a blog so that you are made aware that there maybe a problem. If you did miss out here is a quick link to that post.

MacCullochs Range Rest Area - Part two

Click for 476kb image

As the sun was going down this magpie was soaking up the last of of the suns rays on his back wondering what all the fuss is about with the new arrival running around with a camera. See previous post.

Once the sun was low on the horizon the red soil became redder and bounced back up into the trees.

There are advantages of towing a caravan and pulling into rest areas like this; communing with nature with food and wine to warm our bellies and feeling at peace with our surroundings and a nice soft bed to sleep in.razz

Even though we had one more night at Broken Hill before arriving home, Malcolm and I both felt that this lovely spot was the last night of our holiday. So as the sun sets I will say a big thank you for following this journey along with us.

Birds, sunsets and seascape

Click for 318 image of a Seagull

Well I didn't see Easter Bunny but this bird tended to make a nuisance of itself when I was trying to take a seascape photo. I walked to the left and it did the same as well as moving to the right, the gull followed, but of cause it had to stand between me and the photo I wanted to take.

There is usually a good sunset at Easter time at Port Broughton and this year was no exception.

I wouldn't say Port Broughton has a beautiful beach but at the same time it is an interesting one. I stitched three photos together in an attempt to give you a general idea of what the coastline looks like that is neighbouring the edge of the caravan park that my husband and I were staying at.

Chambers Gorge - last photos

Steal a 648k snapshot

It is getting late and while Malcolm waits patiently in the Patrol I happily snap away to get some more photos as I know it will be quite some time before we visit this area again.

It wasn't until after I posted the first photo of this area to SnapShots that I regretted not starting from the very beginning of the trip by way of telling a story for the whole day. It is something for me to remember to do in future.

This last photo of the sun setting over Wilpena Pound was taken to close our daylight hours to a very big day on the road. This was the only stop that we made as the later the day became the more kangaroos we had to avoid hitting as they came out to feed. It was quite a relief to get back to Wilpena Pound caravan and camp grounds where we were staying at the time I was artist in residence.

Hello there!!!

After finding out that snapshots could not be uploaded to my blog via the Internet Café when signing into the caravan park at Moonta Bay they told me that the Community Library does supply the internet to anyone that cares to use it. As I am on holidays I chose not to continue daily to contribute to my blogs but rather show an occasional post so that you know I have not forgotten you.

The day before my husband and I left home we had good rains. With the water draining off the rubble roads enough for us to travel with a caravan hooked up behind us we headed off for our holiday destination. Because we knew there was still rough weather to come it was decided to hold off putting our annex up until it had passed. The first night wasn’t too bad but gee the second night the wind certainly belted the tents and caravans around in the holiday park.

By the third night the sea was like glass. The storms have passed bringing much needed rain in some parts of Australia though for many, still not breaking the drought that seems to have a strangle hold in numerous parts of this country.

I do hope you enjoy this sample of snapshots with the first three showing the first three evenings of my holiday. Of cause the seagulls are not slow in posing for their photo to be taken as well.

Days End

This photo was chosen for todays post as I felt it was appropriate to the sun setting on my last entry to this blog for the next couple of weeks. In saying this there is a possibility of an occasional post if the Internet Cafe in the area that I am holidaying in is available.

Now getting back to this sunset, the snapshot wasn't taken today as we have had glorious rain all day. With the drought that Australia has been experiencing, our farm included it is a wonderful time. The sunset snapshot was taken on one of my earlier walks on the farm.

So there you have it, no more walks on the farm for the next two weeks though that doesn't mean I won't be walking at all. The scenery will be very different though with the sun setting over the sea instead while feeling the moist sand between my toes on the beach. Cheers my friends! winkmrgreen

Sunset and Happy New Year!

Looking back over my shoulder on one of my recent evening walks, this is the sunset that I saw. It makes one feel good to be alive to see these magical moments when the last of sun’s rays is warming the clouds with its delightful colours.

Happy New Year to you all for today is the first of January 2007 in Aussie Land!

Steal it!
